Alienware AI Discoverability

When a buyer asks ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Google’s AI “what’s the best gaming laptop?” instead of Googling it, which brands get named — and why? This dashboard explains how AI answer engines decide, and sets up the measurement that shows where Alienware stands.

Baseline measurement pending — no Alienware score exists yet Research verified Oct 16, 2026 · Discipline: GEO / AEO (Generative / Answer Engine Optimization)

The one-screen story

AI answer engines are becoming the first place buyers ask about gaming PCs. Being recommended there is a new, measurable kind of visibility — and for Alienware, nobody has measured it yet.

01

Engines answer from memory + live lookup

A brand gets named from two sources: what the model absorbed in training (years of reviews, roundups, forum threads) and what it retrieves live while answering. Both can be influenced — and both can be measured.

02

Every engine eats a different diet

ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google’s AI surfaces, Copilot, and Claude each search different indexes and cite different sources. Only ~11% of cited domains overlap between ChatGPT and Perplexity — so a brand can top one engine and be invisible on another. There is no single “AI score.”

03

Measurement works like a survey

AI answers are non-deterministic — the same question can name different brands twice. So teams freeze a fixed panel of buyer questions, run it on a schedule, and score every answer. Movement then reflects the brand, not the questionnaire.

Headline metrics

These tiles are the dashboard’s end state. They stay unmeasured — not zero — until the first baseline run produces real answers to score. A zero would fabricate a finding; “not yet measured” tells the truth and names the next step.

Brand mention rate

Not yet measured — baseline run pending

% of panel answers, per engine, that name Alienware at all. The headline metric of the discipline.

Share of voice

Not yet measured — baseline run pending

Alienware mentions as a share of all brand mentions across the defined competitor set, per category.

First-mention rate

The one public datapoint

Exactly one public source publishes anything checkable about Alienware in AI answers today: AI SEO Tracker’s monthly “AI SEO Leaderboard,” which records the top-mentioned brands per buying question across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, and AI Overviews. Verified live on Oct 16, 2026. It shows top-3 names only.

Question (as tracked)Top names shownAlienware
Best Gaming Laptop Razer Blade, Lenovo Legion, ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 Absent from top 3
Best Laptops For Gaming ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16, ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14, NVIDIA Absent from top 3
Best Prebuilt Gaming PC iBUYPOWER, Corsair, Skytech Absent from top 3
Best Budget Gaming PC CyberPowerPC, iBUYPOWER, MXZ Absent (Alienware doesn’t compete at budget)
Best Budget Gaming Laptop HP Victus, Lenovo LOQ, Acer Nitro V Absent (budget tier, ditto)
Best Handheld Gaming PC ASUS ROG Ally, Lenovo Legion Go, MSI Claw Absent
Best Ultrawide Monitor ASUS, Alienware, Samsung Present
Best Monitor For PS5 ASUS ROG Swift OLED, Alienware AW2725Q QD-OLED, Alienware AW2725QF Present — 2 of 3 slots
Best Monitor Samsung, LG, Alienware Present
Best Laptop Brands Apple, Dell, Lenovo Parent brand (Dell) present

Read this with its caveats attached. This is a single small-vendor tracker with unpublished sample sizes, a monthly scan, and a top-3 display only — absence from a top-3 list is not proof of zero mentions. The pattern it suggests — Alienware visible where its monitors are review-dominant, absent from the headline slots for gaming laptops and desktops, where Razer Blade, Lenovo Legion, and ASUS ROG hold the recalled positions — is a hypothesis with one public datapoint behind it, not a finding. Confirming or refuting it is exactly what the baseline measurement in the Prompt Panel is for.

Category context: the pie is concentrated

Semrush’s 2026 AI Visibility Index (released June 26, 2026; 126 million AI search prompts across ChatGPT, Gemini, AI Mode, and AI Overviews) measures how much of each category’s total AI visibility the top 3 brands hold. Share of voice in this category is a fight over a concentrated pie.

Only 36 brands are everywhere

Across the whole Index, only 36 brands held top-100 visibility on every platform in every month of the study — and the named examples are platform and retail giants (YouTube, Google, Reddit, Amazon, Apple, Walmart, Nintendo), not PC hardware brands. Per-engine measurement isn’t pedantry; it’s where the variance lives.

The bottom line for v1

Alienware’s AI discoverability is currently unmeasured by anyone, publicly. No GEO vendor has published a prompt-level audit of the gaming-PC category naming an Alienware mention rate, and neither Dell nor any agency has published Alienware AI-visibility figures this research could find. So this dashboard’s first job is not to display a score — it is to create the baseline measurement that doesn’t exist yet, with a methodology honest enough to defend in the room. Step 1 is the baseline run: the 34-prompt panel, five engines, scored by hand. See Prompt Panel & Method. For historical context — and why no Alienware YoY can exist yet — see History.

How answer engines decide which brands to name

Every major answer engine blends two sources of brand knowledge. Understanding both is what turns “the AI didn’t mention us” from a mystery into a worklist.

SYSTEM 1

Parametric knowledge — what the model “knows”

Brand reputations absorbed in training, from the pre-training web corpus: reviews, roundups, Wikipedia, forum threads, news. This is why an engine can name Razer, ASUS ROG, and Lenovo Legion for “best gaming laptop” with no search at all — and why reputations are sticky. A brand strongly associated with a category in years of editorial coverage gets recalled first.

SYSTEM 2

Live retrieval (RAG) — what it looks up mid-answer

With search on, the engine issues its own searches, pulls a shortlist of pages, and writes the answer grounded in that text, usually with citations. One buyer question gets decomposed into several hidden sub-searches — query fan-out. Ahrefs’ study of 15 million ChatGPT queries (October 2026) found fan-out is systematic, with sub-queries containing words like “price,” “specifications,” and “reviews” — meaning spec sheets, pricing pages, and review content are literally what the engine goes looking for.

Mentions and citations can diverge completely. A brand can be named from memory while other brands’ pages supply the evidence. Semrush’s 2026 AI Visibility Index found that on Gemini, the overlap between mentioned brands and cited domains can be as low as 30% — which is why the measurement tracks both the mention and the citations behind it.

Semrush, released June 26, 2026; 126 million AI search prompts. Fan-out: Ahrefs blog, October 2026; Searchable vendor test, ~Sept 2026.

The engines are not interchangeable

Different retrieval backbones, different citation behavior, different source diets. A brand can be the top answer on one engine and invisible on another — measurement must be per-engine, never one blended score.

EngineRetrieval backboneCitation behavior
ChatGPT (search on) Microsoft Bing index + OpenAI’s own OAI-SearchBot crawl. OpenAI is also reported to be building its own index (from U.S. court testimony by ChatGPT head Nick Turley, surfaced in Peec AI’s investigation — reported, not officially documented). Fewer sources per answer; often synthesizes without linking every claim.
Perplexity Its own crawler/index (PerplexityBot) plus licensed ranking signals. CEO Aravind Srinivas has said recency of update is an explicit ranking input. Every claim footnoted to numbered sources — the most citation-transparent engine.
Google AI Overviews / AI Mode Google’s own search index + Knowledge Graph; heavy overlap with organic results. Inline links; sources skew to platforms Google indexes deeply — YouTube, Reddit, Wikipedia.
Gemini (standalone app) Google index + training data. Inline mentions, occasional links. Source diet measurably different from AI Overviews despite the same parent — Reddit is far heavier in Gemini.
Microsoft Copilot Bing grounding — same index family as ChatGPT’s web mode. Linked citations; retail/commerce domains weigh unusually heavily (one multi-engine vendor analysis found Amazon dominant in Copilot citations).
Claude Web search powered by Brave Search’s independent index (partnership reported 2025, corroborated by practitioner sources). Few citations, authority-weighted; conservative on commercial categories.

The largest public citation dataset for Google’s AI Overviews (Ahrefs, September 2026; 3M+ U.S. queries) ranks the domains supplying the evidence. The top five are all user-content, social, and video platforms — no review publisher’s own site cracks the top tier.

#1 cited domain differs by engine

Ahrefs, June 2025; 78.6M searches across AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity

  • ChatGPT: Wikipedia #1 (16.3%), then Reuters/AP news
  • Perplexity: YouTube #1 (16.1%), Wikipedia #2 (12.5%)
  • AI Overviews: YouTube #1 (9.5%), Wikipedia (8.4%), Reddit (7.4%)

Wikipedia is the only domain in the top two on all three engines.

Gaming skews to video — one study, labeled

Surfer’s analysis of 46M AI Overview citations (Mar–Aug 2025) found YouTube’s citation share exceeds 90% in its “gaming” slice. That is an outlier figure from one vendor’s taxonomy — do not quote it as settled fact. Directionally, though, it agrees with everything else here: for gaming questions, video content is an outsized citation source on Google surfaces.

These diets move fast

Ahrefs’ ChatGPT citation tracking (U.S., March → September 2026) shows how quickly the evidence base shifts. Any “engines cite X” claim has a shelf life of weeks — which is why this dashboard needs a recurring measurement, not a one-off audit.

The signal stack — what feeds the machine

Eight inputs, synthesized from the academic and practitioner evidence, determine whether a brand gets named and recommended. Each maps to an Alienware asset or a gap — the action view lives under Tools & Levers.

1. Review & editorial corpus

Roundups and “best of” lists from publishers (Tom’s Guide, PCMag, IGN, Rtings). Engines repeat what credible third parties concluded; a brand absent from the current year’s flagship roundups is structurally hard to recommend with confidence.

2. Community discussion

Reddit threads and forums (r/GamingLaptops, r/Alienware, r/pcmasterrace) are retrieved heavily by Perplexity and Google’s surfaces and sit inside training corpora. Volume and valence of owner discussion both register.

3. YouTube

Reviews and transcripts — the #1 cited domain on Google AI surfaces and Perplexity per Ahrefs. Creator reviews and unboxings are citable evidence, not just reach.

4. Retailer & product pages

Prices, specs, ratings, and review counts from Dell.com, Amazon, Best Buy, and Newegg feed fan-out sub-queries (“price,” “specifications”) and Copilot’s commerce-weighted answers.

5. Wikipedia & entity records

The single most consistent citation source across engines. Entity clarity — consistent naming, specs, links to Wikidata — helps engines resolve “Alienware” vs. “Dell” vs. model lines (Area-51, Aurora, x16/m18) without conflation.

6. Comparison & spec content

“Alienware vs Razer” pages and clean spec tables are disproportionately extractable. The founding GEO study found adding statistics, citations, and quotations lifted visibility by up to 40% in generative answers, while keyword stuffing hurt.

7. Press releases & news

Wire coverage feeds the news-heavy diet of ChatGPT (Reuters/AP near the top of its citation list) and gives launches a freshness spike.

8. Freshness

An explicit ranking input at Perplexity and visible in every longitudinal dataset: last year’s roundup loses to this year’s. Launch windows are visibility windows.

Mention scoreboard & share of voice

The structure below is what the baseline run fills in: per engine, per category, Alienware against the competitor set. Until the first run is scored, every cell stays honestly empty — the only Alienware evidence that exists today is the single public datapoint on the Overview.

No baseline run yet

The 34-prompt panel (Prompt Panel & Method) has not been run. When it is — each prompt on each engine, 2–3 runs, full answer text saved — this view shows mention rate, average position, and first-mention rate per engine and category, with share of voice trended weekly from that baseline forward.

— = not yet measured. Per-engine rows only; no blended score is ever computed (see the ~11% ChatGPT↔Perplexity citation-overlap figure under How It Works).

The competitor set

Share of voice is only meaningful against a defined set. For gaming PCs the panel tracks:

Razer ASUS ROG MSI Lenovo Legion HP OMEN Acer Predator iBUYPOWER CyberPowerPC Maingear Corsair (prebuilt questions) Skytech (prebuilt questions) Dell G-Series — legacy: track for phantom recommendations

The G-Series slot is deliberate. One 2026 buying guide observed Dell has discontinued the G-Series gaming line, leaving Alienware as Dell’s only gaming brand (CouponzGuru guide, Sept 2026 — a low-authority source, flagged as such). If accurate, engines trained on older content may still recommend a discontinued line — which is itself a discoverability finding worth catching.

Calibration: what “good” looks like in the published data

Branded prompts flatter; unprompted is discovery

Mentions and citations are different wins

  • Fewer than half of the top-100 mentioned brands also appear in the matching top-100 citation lists, on average (Semrush Index, via MarTech, Oct 2026).
  • On Gemini, mentioned-brand vs. cited-domain overlap can be as low as 30% (Semrush, June 2026).
  • Only ~11% of cited domains overlap between ChatGPT and Perplexity (practitioner literature, e.g. Neo360 Digital, 2026 — secondary source, directionally reliable).

So this scoreboard never merges the two: the Citations layer of the baseline (which domains and URLs the engines cite for the panel questions, classified owned / review publisher / Reddit / YouTube / retailer / reference) is what turns a score into a worklist.

What the AI says — verbatim answers

The evidence layer: every aggregate on this page drills down to the actual answer text that produced it, with sentiment/framing tags and factual errors flagged (discontinued models recommended, wrong specs). Aggregates without receipts don’t survive the room.

No answers captured yet

The baseline run saves the full text of every answer. Once it runs, this space becomes the answer browser: pick a prompt and an engine, read what buyers actually saw, and check how Alienware was described — premium/performance leader, overpriced, or not mentioned at all.

History — what can actually be pulled

The request was YoY or any historical figures. Here is the honest split: market-level history exists and is charted below, dated and sourced. Alienware-level history does not exist — from any source, at any date.

No published history of Alienware’s AI visibility exists before Oct 2026. This dashboard’s baseline run is the start of the record. No vendor has ever published an Alienware mention rate, share of voice, or ranking for any past date, and AI answers are not archived anywhere to re-run history against — so a true Alienware YoY cannot be reconstructed, only started. The first week-over-week comparison lands with baseline run #2; the first YoY lands in October 2027. Anything below is the market the brand competes in, never Alienware’s own series.

Reading rule for everything on this view: almost all of it is vendor data, and three different metrics circulate — % of citations, % of answers containing, % of responses containing. They are not interchangeable. Figures from different vendors, metrics, or question sets are shown side by side, never blended into one series; where vendors conflict, both accounts appear.

The audience: buyers moved to AI assistants

Company-announced milestones — the only primary figures in this field. Two different units on one date axis: ChatGPT counts weekly active users, Gemini counts monthly active users. Comparable as growth stories, never merged into one line.

Hedge: OpenAI’s framing leaves ambiguity about whether the 1B is ChatGPT alone or the product family, and some secondary trackers claim 1.2B at DevDay 2026 — treat post-1B figures as unsettled. Perplexity reported 780M queries in May 2025 (CEO statement via TechCrunch) — query volume, not users, so it is not plotted here.

AI Overviews prevalence — the answer box keeps spreading

Share of Google searches showing an AI Overview. Trackers use different denominators, so this is a set of parallel series, not one line: the Semrush series is drawn as a line; Comscore and Pew sit on the same chart as separate labeled markers, deliberately not connected to it.

Direction is up everywhere, but the level depends entirely on the denominator: Semrush’s keyword sample dipped after its July 2025 peak even as Comscore’s real-search panel kept climbing (25.8% Jul 2025 → 39.4% Jun 2026). Semrush points shown are the values its study published (Feb 2025: 7.64%).

Parallel trackers, different denominators

  • SE Ranking (sampled US keywords): 7.47% in Jul 2024 → 18.76% in Nov 2024.
  • BrightEdge Generative Parser: ~15% of queries just after launch (May 2024), pulled back to 7% by end of Jun 2024 as the opt-in experiment ended; >11% at the one-year mark (May 2025), +22% vs. AIO’s first year; ~30% → ~48% of tracked queries across the year to Feb 2026.
  • Pew Research Center panel: 18% of real Google searches showed an AIO in Mar 2025 (plotted above).

The mix is moving toward buying

  • Informational queries’ share of AIO triggers fell 91.3% (Jan 2025) → 57.1% (Oct 2025), while navigational triggers rose 0.74% → 10.33% — AIOs are spreading from research questions toward commercial ones.
  • Ads appeared alongside ~3% of AIOs in Jan 2025 vs. ~40% in Nov 2025.
  • Computers & Electronics sat at 17.92% AIO presence in Nov 2025 — below that month’s all-industry keyword average.

Citation diets drift — what the engines feed on keeps changing

The cleanest defensible drift visual in the research: one vendor, one metric, two dates. Ahrefs Brand Radar (U.S., 2.4–3.8M answers/month) tracked the share of ChatGPT answers citing each domain, March vs. September 2026.

Earlier baseline, different metric (% of all citations): Profound, Aug 2024–Jun 2025 — Wikipedia 7.8% (#1), Reddit 1.8%. Cross-check, % of citations: Similarweb via 5W’s Q1 2026 Citation Source Audit — Jan–Feb 2026, Wikipedia 13.15% + Reddit 11.97% = over 25% of U.S. ChatGPT citations combined.

The September 2025 rehearsal — why single-vendor cliffs are suspect. Semrush’s 13-week study (230,000 prompts, Jul 14–Oct 12, 2025) recorded Reddit in ~60% → ~10% of ChatGPT responses and Wikipedia ~55% → <20%. Profound’s account of the same episode: Reddit citation share ~7% → ~1%, rebounding to ~3% (spring levels) by later in the fall — and Profound traced the cause to a data-collection change (Google’s num=100 search parameter), not a ranking change.

Levels conflict even when direction agrees. For July 2026, Ahrefs reported Reddit at 16.7% of ChatGPT citations while PromptWatch put Reddit’s share of ChatGPT Search citations at 3.83% (Jul 18–Aug 7 avg), falling to 0.52% by Aug 14–17 — an 86.4% relative drop that PromptWatch itself labels provisional, conceding possible collection issues; its absolute levels run >4× below Ahrefs’. Treat PromptWatch as directional only.

The same drift, on Google’s surfaces

Ahrefs’ two AI Overviews snapshots tell a different story from ChatGPT’s: between June 2025 and September 2026, YouTube more than doubled its share of top-source mentions while Wikipedia halved — and Reddit rose here even as it collapsed in ChatGPT. The diet depends on the engine.

Profound’s Aug 2024–Jun 2025 baseline puts Reddit #1 at 6.6% of Perplexity citations, YouTube at 2.0%. No later dated Perplexity citation series was found in this research — an explicit gap, recorded rather than filled. Perplexity’s diet history is effectively unpublished beyond mid-2025.

Alienware’s own record starts now

The one public datapoint has no accessible back-catalog

AI SEO Tracker’s live leaderboard — the source of the Overview’s datapoint — presents only the current scan: no month selector, edition archive, or past-results navigation. The vendor’s blog publishes dated scan write-ups, but they cover SEO-tool questions, not the gaming/hardware categories tracked here. A Wayback Machine check for archived copies could not be completed from the research environment (the query failed on a network error) — recorded as an unverified gap, not proof that no snapshots exist. No history has been reconstructed or backfilled: Alienware’s leaderboard record begins with this dashboard’s own tracking, from Oct 2026 forward.

What the benchmark indexes do and don’t hold

  • Semrush Index, 2025 edition (announced Dec 18, 2025; Aug–Dec 2025 data, 2,500+ prompts across ChatGPT and Google AI Mode): awards spanned four industries — no gaming category — and Alienware is not named. One usable dated pattern: category leaders’ monthly AI share of voice moved less than ±20% month to month. Leadership is sticky once established.
  • Semrush Index, 2026 edition (Jun 26, 2026) — charted on the Overview: top-3 concentration of 76.9% (Consumer Electronics) and 44.9% (Gaming). Single-edition snapshots, not a series; no gaming-category brand values are public in either edition.
  • Not found, stated plainly: any GEO or brand-visibility study, from any vendor at any date, publishing a dated visibility value for Alienware, Dell gaming, or the gaming-PC category’s named brands. There is no cross-vendor consistent citation series either — every vendor’s numbers are internally consistent only.

So: YoY starts with us

The historical figures above are the backdrop — audiences compounding, the answer box spreading toward buying questions, citation diets reshuffling within months. Alienware’s own line on every one of these charts begins at the baseline run and nowhere else. Run the panel weekly (Prompt Panel & Method) and this view gains a second series next to the market’s: the brand’s own, measured the same way every time — week-over-week from run #2, month-over-month by winter, and a genuine YoY in October 2027.

The prompt panel & how a run works

There is no rank tracker for AI answers, because answers are non-deterministic — the same prompt run twice can name different brands. Every credible methodology, vendor or DIY, therefore works like survey research. This is the survey instrument: 34 frozen buyer questions.

1

Freeze the panel

The 34 prompts below are held constant over time so movement reflects the brand, not the questionnaire. Prompts are frozen once the baseline runs; any wording change restarts the trend and is noted in the run log.

2

Run each prompt on each engine, repeatedly

ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews or AI Mode, Copilot, Claude — fresh, logged-out sessions, same locale and language settings every run. 2–3 runs per prompt per cycle where feasible: a single run per prompt is statistically meaningless, and results are averaged.

3

Score every answer, keep the raw text

Each answer is scored on the metric definitions below and the full text is stored. Every figure the dashboard reports carries its engine, model (where known), locale, prompt set, run date, and sample count.

Honest limitations, printed on purpose. Every number this method produces is a sampled estimate — a survey of what engines said on those days, not a census of every AI conversation. Answers vary by account, locale, and day. One run per prompt per week is a small sample; manual capture doesn’t scale past ~40 prompts × 5 engines without an agent or a paid tool. What it does produce is the one thing vendors can’t fake: the raw answers, quotable in the room. Cadence norms from practitioner consensus: monthly minimum, weekly optimal for brands actively working the problem (Sanbi GEO Guide 2026) — weekly also matches this team’s existing Hive refresh rhythm.

Scoring definitions

Brand mention rate (visibility)

% of answers in the panel, per engine, that name the brand at all. The headline metric.

Share of voice

The brand’s mentions as a share of all brand mentions across the defined competitor set, per category.

Mention position / prominence

Where in the answer the brand appears — first-named, top-3, also-ran — and whether it is the recommendation vs. a list member.

Sentiment / framing

How the brand is described (premium/performance leader vs. overpriced vs. budget pick); also catches factual errors. A mention with a wrong description is not a win.

Citation-source analysis

Which domains and URLs the engines cite for the panel questions — owned site vs. review publishers vs. Reddit vs. YouTube vs. retailers. The actionable layer: it says which surfaces to influence.

Branded vs. unbranded split

Prompts that name the brand measure description accuracy; unbranded category prompts measure discovery. Scored separately, always.

AI referral traffic (supporting signal)

Sessions arriving from chatgpt.com, perplexity.ai, etc. in GA4 — small but high-converting, and the only first-party ground truth available.

The 34-prompt panel

Groups A–F are unbranded discovery prompts. Group G is branded head-to-head and accuracy checks, scored separately. Prompt 25 (monitors) is a deliberate control category — Alienware’s publicly visible strength — keeping the panel honest by including a category where the brand is expected to appear.

Run log

Run dateEnginesPrompts × runsStatus
No runs recorded. The baseline run is step 1 — everything on this dashboard trends from it.

Indirect signals already visible

No direct measurement exists, but the input corpus can be read today — labeled as indirect, because AI answers are synthesized from exactly this material.

  • The roundup landscape favors the rivals on flagship questions. Current “best gaming laptop” coverage (2026 roundups sampled in the research) leads with ASUS ROG, Razer Blade, and Lenovo Legion models, with Alienware models (16 Aurora, 18 Area-51) appearing as also-listed entries rather than headline picks in several sampled lists. A qualitative read of sampled pages, not a measured share — but a roundup-position gap is the most plausible mechanism behind the leaderboard pattern, and it’s the thing content and PR work can actually move.
  • Stale tests are not evidence. Tom’s Guide asked Bard and Bing Chat for laptop recommendations in 2023; Bing surfaced ASUS ROG and Razer prominently. A three-year-old, pre-AI-Overviews snapshot — it says nothing reliable about October 2026 and is recorded here only so nobody cites it as current.

Tools & levers

Two halves of acting on this: how to measure at scale (buy vs. DIY), and which levers actually move the numbers — mapped to what Alienware already has.

The tool landscape

Each tool below is verified to exist; pricing is as published or reported in October 2026 — re-confirm before purchase, because packaging in this category is shifting fast.

ToolWhat it doesEnginesPricing (as reported)
Profound
tryprofound.com
Enterprise AI-visibility platform: Answer Engine Insights, Prompt Volumes (demand data), Agent Analytics (how AI crawlers read your site), citation analysis, SoV benchmarking. Published research on 3B+ citations; raised $20M seed June 2025. The enterprise default. Up to 9–10 on top tiers (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, AI Overviews, AI Mode, Claude, Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI) Third-party reviews consistently report Starter $99/mo (ChatGPT only, 50 prompts) and Growth $399/mo (adds Perplexity + AI Overviews, 100 prompts); Enterprise custom. Profound’s own site has recently emphasized a free 7-day trial + custom Enterprise — packaging is in flux; confirm before budgeting.
Otterly.AI
otterly.ai
Prompt tracking, Brand Visibility Index (coverage × position), link/citation analysis, GEO site audits. The cheapest credible entry point — but add-on pricing is the trap: a 5-engine setup costs more than the sticker. Base: ChatGPT, AI Overviews, Perplexity, Copilot. Gemini, AI Mode, Claude are paid add-ons Lite $29/mo (15 prompts), Standard $189/mo (100 prompts), Premium $489/mo (400 prompts); annual ≈15% off; engine add-ons $9–$439/mo depending on tier. (Checked Oct 8, 2026.)
Peec AI
peec.ai
Tracking-only analytics: visibility, position, sentiment, SoV, citation/source-type analysis, “Actions” recommendations. Strong source analysis; deliberately measurement-only — buy it to understand your visibility, not to fix it. 6 available (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, AI Overviews, AI Mode, Copilot); plans include 3 below Enterprise Starter €85/mo (50 prompts), Pro €205/mo, Advanced/Growth €425/mo, Scale €675/mo, Enterprise custom; extra models €30–140/mo each. (Checked against live pricing page Aug 16, 2026.)
Scrunch AI
scrunch.com
Monitoring (mentions, position, sentiment, citations) plus a serve-side layer: its Agent Experience Platform (AXP) detects AI crawlers and serves them a machine-readable version of your site. The AXP angle is unique but enterprise-gated. Acquired by Sitecore — announced June 3, 2026; Bloomberg reported ~$225M, unconfirmed by the companies. Core: ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews, Copilot (4); Enterprise: 9 incl. Claude, Gemini, Meta AI, Grok Core $250/mo (125 prompts, 5,000 responses/mo) per Scrunch’s own pricing page; Enterprise custom (AXP, API, SSO).

Also-rans worth checking before buying anything

Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit ($99/mo per domain as an add-on; Semrush also publishes the 126M-prompt 2026 Index), Ahrefs Brand Radar (standalone from $199/mo; huge prompt database, monthly refresh), HubSpot AEO ($50/mo standalone). If Dell already licenses Semrush or Ahrefs, these may be the zero-procurement starting point — worth an internal check first.

The DIY alternative — what v1 does with no procurement

Practitioner literature endorses exactly this as the starting method: weekly manual “blind audits.” The panel in this dashboard is built for it.

1

Run the panel by hand (or by agent), weekly

Fresh, logged-out sessions of each engine. Paste each of the 34 prompts, save the full answer text, score mentions, position, sentiment, and citations in a spreadsheet.

2

Accept the limits, keep the receipts

Free and fully transparent, but sampled: one run per prompt per week is a small sample, answers vary by account/locale/day, and it doesn’t scale past ~40 prompts × 5 engines without an agent or a paid tool. The raw answers are the asset.

3

Buy a tool when the manual run breaks

The trigger to procure is operational, not analytical: when weekly hand-runs stop fitting the week, the vendors above automate the same panel — the methodology doesn’t change, only the labor.

Signals & levers — Alienware’s current position

For each signal that feeds the engines: the asset Alienware already has, and the gap. Gaps marked “baseline reveals” fill in after the first run — only verified context is pre-filled.

YouTube & creator reviews → citations

Asset: the Hive creator pipeline already produces reviews and unboxings on the #1 cited domain for Google AI surfaces and Perplexity. Creator content is citable evidence, not just reach — this is the lever this team already holds.

Gap: baseline reveals which panel answers cite creator videos today, and whose.

Reddit & community discussion

Asset: owner communities exist (r/Alienware, r/GamingLaptops, r/pcmasterrace) and engines retrieve them heavily — though the diet shifts fast (Reddit in ChatGPT answers fell from ~1 in 5 to ~1 in 43 across 2026).

Gap: Reddit listening is currently blocked — the known Reddit gap from the Hive dashboard carries over here. Volume and valence of owner discussion can’t be managed unmeasured.

Review roundups & editorial corpus

Asset: Alienware models (16 Aurora, 18 Area-51) do appear in current flagship roundups.

Gap: in several sampled 2026 lists they appear as also-listed entries rather than headline picks, behind ASUS ROG, Razer Blade, and Lenovo Legion leads — the most plausible mechanism behind the one public datapoint’s pattern, and the lever content/PR work can move.

Dell.com spec & comparison pages

Asset: owned product pages feed fan-out sub-queries on price and specifications, and Copilot’s commerce-weighted answers.

Gap: baseline reveals whether owned pages are cited at all. Extractability is the standard: statistics, citations, and quotations in content lifted visibility up to 40% in the founding GEO study; keyword stuffing hurt.

Wikipedia & entity clarity

Asset: Wikipedia is the only domain in the top two cited sources on ChatGPT, Perplexity, and AI Overviews alike.

Gap: baseline reveals whether engines resolve “Alienware” vs. “Dell” vs. model lines (Area-51, Aurora, x16/m18) cleanly — and whether the discontinued G-Series still surfaces as a phantom recommendation.

Freshness & launch windows

Asset: recency is an explicit ranking input at Perplexity, and press/wire coverage feeds ChatGPT’s news-heavy citation diet.

Gap: launch windows are visibility windows — the weekly cadence exists so a launch’s AI-answer spike (or absence) is caught while it can still be acted on, not a quarter later.
